Ireland looks set to host a major new television series which is being developed by the same production company behind “The Tudors” and “Camelot”.

Morgan O’Sullivan and James Flynn, both producers with Octagon Films and “The Tudors” writer, Michael Hirst have begun work on the period series, which would be entirely produced in Ireland’

“We have done a road map of 40 episodes," Flynn told The Sunday Business Post.. ‘‘We have what they call a bible: character break-downs, a long treatment of the first episode, and what we would be looking to do is to pitch that to the networks in the autumn.

“They will then, hopefully, commission us to write the first two scripts and they would then either announce it or pass on it."

The working title of the new series has not yet been revealed.

Octagon has two new series debuting on cable television here in the U.S.  this coming weekend.

Based on the story of Kin Arthur, “Camelot” will be showcased on the Starz premium channel on April 1, while “The Borgias” which was the brainchild of Neil Jordan will go out on the Shotime network from April 3.

‘‘Showtime and Starz will look at the ratings and the response generally, and we should know in the second or third week in August if they are ordering another season," Flynn said.
