Madonna tickets sold like hotcakes in New York for her two Yankee Stadium shows in September, and business is brisk throughout many other American and European cities for her upcoming tour … but Dublin, so far, has proven to be a bit of a bust as far as demand goes.

Madge is down to play the outdoor Aviva Stadium in Dublin on July 24, which seats more than 50,000.

That’s a bunch of tickets to sell, obviously, but Michael Buble had no problem packing the place for two shows when it opened in September of 2010.  Granted Buble is king to his legions of Irish fans, but it seems strange that Madonna ticket sales are lagging.

A spokesperson for promoters MCD in Dublin told the Irish Independent a few weeks back that tickets were “selling very well,” and a story in the paper at that time reported that lots of good seats were available for purchase 24 hours after they first went on sale.

That’s still very much the case, as a quick “Page 2” check on Ticketmaster.ie Sunday showed.

Seeing the Material Girl doesn’t come cheap.  The Dublin show ranges in price from  €54.65 to  €141, which translates to about $72-$185.  That’s actually pretty reasonable considering the best Yankee Stadium ticket is $375, but obviously in recession-wracked Ireland it’s tough to part with that kind of cash, even for an icon like Madge.
