Funny girl Kathy Griffin is taking her stand-up comedy show to Broadway. Entitled "Kathy Griffin WANTS A TONY" the show will step out in time for Saint Patrick's Day, for just 8 performances only.

Griffin plans to wow New York audiences with her outrageous frankness and her lethal wit.

Announcing the short run, Griffin told the press: "While I have been asked to understudy for Spider-Man and take over for Al when he has finished his run in The Merchant of Venice, instead I have decided to take my very own show to Broadway. Just me and the microphone. Every night will be fresh material due to the revolving door of pop culture, political and celebrity missteps. I won't be able to hold back. If you are in the market for an evening of laughter, swearing and negativity you've found the right show!"

Griffin promises that "Kathy Griffin WANTS A TONY" will feature brand new material about her blacklists and her run-ins with A-List celebrities.

The show will change nightly, Griffin promises, depending on the news of the day.

Performances begin March 11 and run through March 19 2011 at the Belasco Theatre. Performances times are Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM. Sunday at 3 PM.

Tickets are priced from $61.50 to $121.50 for all performances and are on sale now at The Belasco Theatre box office and telecharge.com.
