The Irish Times seems to be the newspaper of choice for the Muppets.

In their new movie ‘Muppets Most Wanted,’ a re-creation of the paper’s front page, including an inclusion of a story about a rift in Northern Ireland unionism, appears in several important scenes while the Muppets are in Ireland as part of a world tour, the ‘real’ Irish Times reports.

In one scene, Fozzie Bear appears on screen clutching a copy with a front page splash on the whereabout of the evil Kermit doppelgänger, Constantine.

“Getting ‘Wow’ texts from cinemas about The Irish Times jumping off the screen, and in the middle of a Muppets movie, was to put it mildly a novel experience,” said Irish Times editor Kevin O’Sullivan.

“Disney were even faithful to the typeface in our front page masthead. I like that attention to detail.”

Film director James Bobin said, “I knew it had to be The Irish Times as it’s ‘the’ paper when you think of Ireland.”

Disney’s General Manager in Ireland Trish Long has said that the 2011 Muppets movie was so popular at the box office in Ireland that Disney decided to make Dublin one of the four European cities featured on the Muppets' world tour.
