The 62nd Emmy Awards will take place in the coming weeks and will play host to a large group of nominated Irish hopefuls.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards take place on Saturday August 21st followed by the Primetime Emmy Awards on August 29th. The joint ceremonies sees Ireland compete in six categories, including art direction, cinematography, costume hair and make-up.

The award winning show “The Tudors” has received four nominations in the following categories Outstanding Art Direction for a Single Camera Series; Outstanding Cinematography; Costume design and supervision and Outstanding Hairstyling.

Dublin born actor Michael Gambon has been nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a miniseries for his role as Mr. Woodhouse in the BBC c0-production of Emma. Gamdon is most well known for his recent portrayal of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.

Finally the former musical director of Riverdance David Downes has beem nominated for his work on “Celtic Woman: Stories from the Heart”.

The awards will be held at LA’s premiere Nokia Theatre and will be broadcast on NBC.
