Following a sold-out Barretstown Inspirations gig at Webster Hall, in New York City, the camp for children and families affected by childhood illness have released a moving version of “Dream Baby Dream” on iTunes.

Featuring ex-camper Joyce Murphy, The Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir, Mundy, Steve Wall, Tom Dunne and many ex campers, volunteers and staff of Barrestown, the song is already selling well.

Dee Ahearne, CEO of Barretstown said “This song captures the resilience and optimism that our campers and their families have shown in the 20 years since we opened our doors, and we are very proud of what they have done.”

Barretstown has provided therapeutic recreation or “serious fun” for over 27,000 campers since its foundation by the actor Paul Newman in 1994.

The release of the single took place the evening before the inaugural Barretstown Inspirations New York gig when a crowd over 1,500 turned out to support the charity.

The stellar line up included funny man Tommy Tiernan, frontman of Ash Tim Wheeler, Mundy and The Frank & Walters. The show was hosted by Newstalk’s Tom Dunne and raised over $30,000 to help fund the camp.

All of the children and families come to Barretstown free of charge. Everything, including accommodation, food, medical assistance and round-trip airfares are provided at no cost to the family.
