Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue, who is currently starring opposite Anthony Hopkins in “The Rite", has been cast in the lead role of a new U.S. series.

Based on the UK series of the same name, “Identity” charts the work of a police unit fighting crimes against identity theft.

Deadline.com reports that O’Donoghue will play John Bloom, "an intensely private, psychologically insightful former undercover FBI agent who's secretly never left his undercover identity behind".

The 30-year old actor has worked on a host of Irish dramas as well as the Showtime TV series “The Tudors”.

The Louth man’s latest role in “The Rite” saw him play the role of a young priest who is training to become an exorcist.
