Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson has been named on Variety magazine’s list of the top ten actors to watch.

The son of Brendan Gleeson (star of “The Guard” and “In Bruges”) was the only Irish actor mentioned on the list. In the past Emma Stone (“Superbad”), Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games”) and Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker”) has all been mentioned on the list.

Domhnall Gleeson, from Malahide in Dublin, starred in “Harry Potter”, “True Grit” and other major titles in recent years. This year he wrapped on “About Time” a Richard Curtis (“Love Actually”) movie, “About Time”, alongside Rachel McAdams.

He also stars in “Anna Karenina” and “Dredd 3D” which are both being released this year.

Gleeson is also set to star alongside his father in John Michael McDonagh’s “Calvary”, according to IFTN.ie.

Last year, Gleeson was recognized for his “rising star” status by the Irish Film & TV Academy and the Berlinale International Film Festival.

The other selected actors on the Variety list include Dree Hemingway (“Starlet”), Boyd Holbrook (“The Host”), Adam Driver (“Inside Llewyn Davis”), Scoot McNairy (“Killing Them Softly”) and Nate Parker (“Arbitrage”); Australian Bella Heathcote (“Not Fade Away”); Swedish actor Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”) and Germany’s Elyas M'Barek (“Turkish for Beginners”).
