Probably one of the best finales of any show.
If you haven't seen the show yet then don't read on. Packed full of spoilers.
Although the plot has been building up for some time the actions of a certain disgruntled husband whose wife died during surgery was shocking.
Gary Clark, who lost his mind after his wife died at the hands of Richard Webber a few episodes back, was out for revenge and he got a lot.
Clark, not able to take it anymore, arrived at Seattle Grace brandishing a weapon and wasn't afraid to use it.
Clark was out for three particular people, Webber who conducted the surgery, Dr. Derek Shepherd - chief of surgery and Dr. Lexie Gray who pulled the plug on said wife on orders from Shepherd.
Oh the drama!
First dead is Reed Adamson, an intern at Seattle Grace.
Next bullet hit Alex Karev in the side.
Creator and executive producer of Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes wrote on her blog, "When I pitched this finale at the beginning of Season 6 (those of you who know me know that I pitch the end of the season first and we work towards it), when I pitched a gunman shooting up the hospital, it seemed fine."
"Really it did. And then 20 or so episodes later, I started to write it and it did not seem fine. It did not seem fine at all. On an almost daily basis, I would come into work and throw myself down on the sofa in the middle of the office and burst into tears."
As the drama continued Christina had to operate on Dr. McDreamy (Shepherd) and in the mean time his wife Meredith Gray has a miscarriage during all the madness.
The only good thing to come out of the finale was that Dr. Owen Hunt finally chose Christina as the love of his life sidelining Dr. Teddy Altman.
"It hurt to write this finale. It literally hurt me. Because in order to write these episodes, I had to walk in the shoes of Gary Clark," Rhimes wrote. " I had to think like a shooter. A person who would shoot Reed and Alex and Charles. A person who would shoot Derek. By the time I finished writing part one, I was sick. And depressed."
How will she ever top that next season.
