Irish American George Clooney will appear in Court in Milan, Italy as part of a fraud case. The case involves three men who used the actor’s named for a fashion label, “GC Exclusive by George Clooney”, without his knowledge in April 2008.

The con-artists, Vincenzo Cannalire, Francesco Galdelli and Vanja Goggi, have been charged with fraud, forgery and possession of stolen good. They attempted to use Clooney’s name to set up a fashion show in a Milan hotel.

Clooney’s lawyer, Grazia Maria Mantelli, said that Clooney will appear in Court on July 16. Judge Pietro Caccialanza has already made sure that there will be extra security measures to ensure the trial goes smoothly.

The judge said “George Clooney is quite a well known actor and celebrity so I have asked that extra security be on hand.
“I imagine the public gallery will be busier than usual that day but the court room in question is quite large and so people will be able to get close to their hero.”

Clooney's lawyer said “This is part of an ongoing case and we had told the judge in March that we would be willing to appear in court any time in July and the date has now been fixed.'

Clooney is currently on vacation at his home in Laglio near Lake Como.
