Irish star Pierce Brosnan was a huge hit with fans in New York today as he took time out to pose for photographs and sign autographs.

Brosnan, who is filming "Remember Me," in New York arrived back on the set yesterday after a vacation in Hawaii.

He plays the father to "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson in the film which shows how the family tries to come to terms with the death of Pattinson's brother.

There was tight security in the Irish stronghold of Maspeth in Queens as the burial scenes were filmed in Mount Olivet cemetery.

However, Brosnan waved away security and came out to visit with the fans who had gathered  there.

"You're all here for me," he joked as little Diane Morrisey rushed forward to have her picture taken.

Morrissey said she was thrilled to see Brosnan and was also hoping to see Brosnan's co-star Pattinson.

However, there was no sign of Pattinson who stayed inside his trailer.

Pattinson has been under virtual siege by female fans in New York but Brosnan, who was a huge hit in the Bond movies, takes it all in his stride.

Rita Malone from County Cork was there with her daughter Eilish and she said Brosnan was a proper gentleman.

"We went downtown yesterday to see him and he was just great, so he was," she said.

"He spent about 15 minutes chatting to the fans and posing for the pictures with the children.

"It's so nice to see that he's still a true Irish gentleman."

Dublin woman Bernice Hughes was similarly impressed.

"He might be from County Meath," she said, referring to the inter-county football rivalry, "but he's a total gentleman."

"He came out to chat to everyone and asked them what they were doing here.

"It's so refreshing to see someone so comfortable with their fame and being so nice."
