Irish Country singer Derek Ryan has released a new single called ‘Welcome Home’ to encourage Irish emigrants to return to Ireland and join the festivities of The Gathering 2013.

The County Carlow singer has three critically acclaimed albums to date, a five piece band, thousands of fans and is one of the most popular artists on the newly revived Irish country circuit. He has become popular throughout Ireland and the UK for his brand of Irish country and has even had a number one single in Japan in 2005 with Irish boy band D-Side when he was 17. His forthcoming album will be released in the fall.

Derek wishes to encourage all those emigrants who hear his song to return to Ireland and join in with The Gathering, which is planned to bring the country together and celebrate the best in Irish music, art, literature, dance, culture, heritage, sport, film and food.

On the single Derek sings that he will be “swapping his tin whistle for a didgeridoo” and welcoming those who have moved away back to the Emerald Isle for The Gathering.
Speaking about the inspiration for his new single, Derek said: “I have been lucky in that I get to meet so many wonderful people when I’m on tour and no matter where I go I hear about so many young people moving away to find work, with most people going to Australia. No matter how far you go, it’s always great to come home, which inspired my new single ‘Welcome Home’, after all there’s no place like home!”

“Welcome Home” is now on release from Sharpe Music, or available to download via iTunes.
