Over the years we have created so many patterns, we’ve made so many friends, we’ve loved meeting so many, many fans….to try to combine a few of these motifs together seemed like the obvious thing to do to celebrate and to remind everyone of the past 40 years in Nicholas Mosse Pottery. So here is Nick holding our special edition small oval serving dish. The dish can be pre-ordered on the Nicholas Mosse website.

It all began with our blue bird (seen in centre) which was our first ever cut sponge (1976!) and which we used for years on our original stoneware items. When we switched to more colourful earthenware, fruits and flowers became a recurring theme so we had to include berries, our Old Rose, Clematis and other floral motifs. A little Clover just peeks in to say “hello, we’re Irish”, while our elegant blue morning glory reminds us of our time producing ware for Tiffany’s. A higgledy piggledy happy oval dish with loads of different colours is the result. For all of us it is full of happy memories!

Our pottery and Irish Country Shop and Café are located in a renovated mill on the banks of the River Nore just south of Kilkenny City. We are now included in the new Fáilte Ireland tourism initiative, Ireland’s Ancient East and have been busy this autumn installing a new viewing area outside the mill to accommodate visitors to the area.  Our shop and café are open 7 days a week all year round, except for a few holidays.
