Is your Spidey sense tingling? Today Variety reports that Bono and The Edge's 'Spiderman, Turn Off the Dark' is one step closer to opening at the Hilton Theatre on Broadway.

This week Marvel Comics has granted the production a fifth (and possibly final) extension on the rights, in anticipation of a November or December opening. Previews would begin in October.

According to Variety: 'Insiders say that in-progress prep work for the technically ambitious production has included a flying workshop that was held last week in Vegas and green-screen footage being shot in Gotham this week.'

The musical was originally scheduled to begin previews on February 25, 2010, but financial troubles and a change of the producing team has delayed the opening till later in the season.

Bono and The Edge, who have written the music and lyrics for the production said, 'Our ambition was to find a Peter Parker who could really act and sing, but who still brings a kind of performance that could be new to Broadway audiences. We wanted something a little more authentically rock and roll. Reeve is everything we could have hoped for: an amazing voice and a truly charismatic presence.'

The show will be directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor.
