“The Avengers” has fulfilled all fan expectations and become the most successful movie of the year, so to those who had hopes for a sequel are not to be disappointed. On Tuesday afternoon, Disney confirmed that there is a number two in the making.

Anyone who sat through the credits of the movie should have had a good idea that Disney had something up its sleeve. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger recently announced the news of plans for a sequel in an interview with CNBC.

He said, “From the Avengers we get a chance to make “Thor 2” and “Captain America 2” and “Iron Man 3” and hopefully another “Avengers” movie.”

For some, the popularity of this movie may come as no surprise because of its jammed packed, star studded cast, including Irish American actors Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans. Not only that, but the remarkable movie has broken records by raking in millions over its opening weekend.

According to The Huffington Post, “The Avengers” has raked in $2 million stateside, earning the second-highest single day gross of all time (after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2”).

It is not clear when, but it will happen. It would be rude not to. “The Avengers” will assemble again.
