Ben Affleck in talks for Baz Luhrmann ‘Great Gatsby’ 3D role

Ben Affleck could be up for the role of Tom Buchanan in Australian director Baz Luhrmann's 3D version of "The Great Gatsby."

According to Deadline, rumors have been circulating about the casting. So far they have reported that Leonardo DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan will play Daisy, Tom's wife, and Tobey Maguire will play Nick Carraway.

It is still not clear when "Gatsby" will begin filming. At the moment it is not clear whether the movie will go ahead. Speaking to New York Magazine's Vulture blog Lurhmann said "not doing 'Gatsby' right now for this reason. Because despite what might be out there, I have made no comment about anything.”

In the 1974 Jack Clayton version of the novel, Tom was played by Bruce Dern. The movie also starred Mia Farrow, Robert Redford and Sam Waterston.
