The Dalai Lama will attend and address the expected crowd of 2500 at the Culture of Compassion, an event that will be held by the charity The Children in Crossfire at the Vital Venue in Ebrington, Derry on April 18th.

Children in Crossfire works to improve the wellbeing of young children in the worlds toughest areas.  Meaning they strive to help children reach their potential by providing childcare and quality education with a goal of long term sustainability.

Children in Crossfire’s director, Richard Moore, expressed his joy about the upcoming event and said,  "We are thrilled to welcome His Holiness back to Derry. He came to the city six years ago as part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations and has been a dedicated patron of the charity since that time. We are delighted that people from across Northern Ireland and beyond will have an opportunity to see and hear him speak during this City of Culture year."

As for the nights musical headline, Christy Moore, Richard Moore said, "We are delighted that Christy Moore has agreed to be part of our Culture of Compassion event.  Christy is a fantastic ambassador for Irish music and indeed for a culture of compassion."

Christy Moore has long been a supporter of the organization and has even written recorded a song about the charity’s director, Richard Moore.

The Irish folk singer said, "I am delighted to be associated with such a wonderful organisation that is doing fantastic work helping vulnerable children in other parts of the world."

Christy went on to say, "His Holiness, the Dalai Lama is a spiritual leader who knows and understands the power of compassion, healing and forgiveness."
