Our old WWE pal Sheamus used to be a nice, lovable, humble Irishman, but not anymore!

Dubliner Sheamus has turned heel, as they say in the wrestling biz. His new persona comes with a change of look – his shock of red hair is now styled in a spiky Mohawk, and his beard is dangling with weird looking braids.

The mean Sheamus did his job with aplomb at a WWE event at the 3Arena in Dublin last Thursday night. Usually Sheamus – given name Stephen Farrelly – comes home to a hero’s welcome on the annual WWE spring stop in Dublin, but not this time.

Sheamus riled up the locals big-time when he told them that that they should look up to heroes like himself and a couple of Irish pols, former minister Mary Harney and current Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny. Cue the boos!

Sheamus also touched a nerve when he urged the thousands in attendance to pay their water charges, one of the most unpopular proposals ever unveiled by any Irish government.

The Celtic Warrior name checked “two feet tall” Irish UFC star Conor McGregor, who he called Colin, and another Irish UFC fighter, Cathal Pendred, who happened to be in the audience.

“Pay your water rates and be happy that you’re lucky to be Irish,” Sheamus advised his booing fans.
