A creative team in Ireland has used a drone to capture a stunning bird’s-eye view of Cork.
Dog Day Media, a media production company based in Cork, and SkyTec Ireland, which is licensed by the Irish Aviation Authority, created the video. A Cinestar 8, a multi-rotor unmanned aircraft, was used to fly around gathering footage.
The video, which is just under a minute and a half long, features a dramatic soundtrack as it captures scenes of Cork’s port industry along the River Lee, including container ships, Blackrock Castle Observatory and a wind turbine under construction.
Steve Slade, CEO of SkyTec, said that shooting footage with an unmanned drone requires a great deal of care and attention.
"It can weigh up to 10-12kg," he told the Irish Examiner. "I you haven't been checked and assessed … they could drop out of the sky."
Dog Day Media said: "We have been working hard along side our UAV partners at SkyTec Ireland to bring the best aerial cinematography to both domestic and international markets.”
"We have fine-tuned the technology and developed custom systems that are unique to SkyTec and Dog Day Media."
