Colin Morgan, star of the BBC series “Merlin”, has been cast as Detective Sergeant Tom Anderson in the second season of “The Fall”. The 28-year-old actor will join the team on the hunt for serial killer Paul Spector, played by another Irishman Jamie Dornan.

Morgan’s character will appear in the final three episodes of the six-part series. His character will work closely with Gillian Anderson’s Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson.

Speaking to the Mirror, Morgan said “I'm delighted to be joining the cast of "The Fall" for what is going to be an exciting and gripping second series.

“Allan Cubitt has written exceptional material and I feel very privileged to be working with him and the very talented cast."

There were some concerns that the productions of the second series of “The Fall” would be pushed back after Dornan accepted the role of Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades of Grey”. However it is now reported that the second series will air at the end of 2014.

At the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) 2014 Jamie Dornan won the Rising Star award. He has also been nominated for a Leading Actor nomination at the British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs). “The Fall” has also been nominated in the Miniseries category.

Morgan is best known for playing the title roles in the BBC show “Merlin”. He also starred in an episode of “Doctor Who”, alongside David Tennant, and in the drama “Quirke” alongside Gabriel Byrne.
