The seventh “Leprechaun” movie and the first starring WWE wrestler Dylan “Hornsoggle” Postl will be released this August.

The newest movie, “Leprechaun: Origins,” promises to be far darker than the previous “Leprechaun” movies, starring Warrick Davis (“Star Wars,” “Life’s Too Short”) in the title role. The old horror franchise launched Jennifer Aniston into stardom and included titles such as the 1997 movies “Leprechaun 4: In Space” and 2000’s “Leprechaun: In the Hood,” featuring rapper Ice-T.

The official synopsis for “Leprechaun: Origins” says the movie concerns two young couples who, while backpacking through the Irish countryside, “quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be when [a] town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”

The newest movie is is directed by Zach Lipovsky and written by Harris Wilkinson. In addition to Postl, the film stars Stephanie Bennett (“Grave Encounters 2”), Andrew Dunbar (“Alien Trespass”), Melissa Roxburgh (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days”), and Brendan Fletcher (“Freddy vs Jason”).

Lionsgate and WWE Studios have announced that the franchise reboot “Leprechaun: Origins” will be available on Digital HD, Video On Demand, and Pay-Per-View on Aug 26.
