There's a new trailer out for HBO’s popular series True Detective, which will star Colin Farrell in season two when it premieres on June 21.

“A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County,” a new HBO press release says.

True Detective was a critical darling and a ratings hit for HBO when it debuted last year with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles. Season two will see Farrell star alongside Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams. Farrell had to gain a good bit of weight to play Velcoro, and the yoga-obsessed Dubliner wasn’t too happy about it.

"People think it must be fun to eat what you want -- and it is, for the first day. Day two, when you're already on your second cheeseburger and fries with a chocolate shake by 11 a.m., not so much,” he recently told Glamour magazine in the U.K.

Fussing over his looks, though, isn’t really a priority for the 38-year-old father of two.

"I'm very low maintenance. Sometimes when I see pictures of myself, I think, if I saw him on the street, I'd give him a dollar and say, 'Hope things get better for you,’” he revealed.
