An Irish granny was surprised with the trip of her dreams and her priceless reaction was captured on video.

Tipperary grandmother Olive Chester had a lifelong dream to visit New York. So her granddaughter, Lorraine Butler, 34, arranged a surprise trip to the Big Apple for her granny's 80th birthday.

Butler, who currently lives in Russia, told her grandmother to meet up with her at Shannon Airport for a short shopping trip to London. At check-in, Aer Lingus staff helped break the news to Chester that she was actually headed to New York City.

Butler posted the video to Facebook and it has since gone viral.

She told the Irish Independent that they are "having an absolutely fantastic time.”

Butler said: "We've been out wandering the streets, soaking up the atmosphere and the heat! We've been up the Empire State Building and around Times Square and today we'll head off to The Statue of Liberty. Nan is having the time of her life. She's enjoying the food, the cocktails and the craic."

Watch the video below for Olive's reaction to the change in travel plans.

She thought she was off to London town, She's not. It's cocktails in Manhattan for this lady's 80th! 󾦈󾔗🍾
