For more than a century, Irish traditional music, dance, and song, has provided the heartbeat for New York City’s vibrant Irish community. The 2nd Annual New York Trad Festival, under the direction of musician Tony DeMarco, brings the richness of New York’s thriving Irish music scene to a wide audience in 2014. This is the ONLY Irish traditional music festival currently associated with New York City. There are two concerts scheduled for this weekend: Saturday, October 18th at 7:30 at Connolly’s Klub 45 and on Sunday, October 19th at 7:00, hosted by the Irish Arts Center.

Trad Fest invites the general public to discover New York’s Irish music in its natural habitat through concerts, discussions, and seisiúns held in long-established Irish traditional music venues. Featuring many of the City’s finest musicians, it highlights the astounding depth of Irish musical talent flourishing in NYC today. The scores of superb, authentic, community-based, participatory seisiúns and performances that occur every week in neighborhood bars, restaurants, and local meeting halls throughout the five boroughs are one of New York’s best kept musical secrets. www.newyorktradfest.org
