The renowned self-harm and suicide prevention center, Pieta House, will celebrate their first annual Christmas party in Rory Dolan’s in Yonkers, New York, on Sunday, December 6 at 6pm.
Pieta House opened its first US branch—its tenth worldwide branch—in the New York Irish Center in Long Island City in Queens earlier this year, offering a service to anybody in need of support completely free of charge.
First opened in 2006 in Lucan. Co. Dublin, Pieta House is one of Ireland’s most popular charities with nine branches opened throughout Ireland before they branched out to Irish communities living abroad with their New York branch this year.
The holiday season can be a hard time of year for those living away from home, those unable to travel to be with their families or for those who feel lonely in their new home. With the help of Pieta House, any Irish immigrant in the New York area who is in need of a chat and some support during the festivities will no longer need to struggle through their difficulty alone.
The Christmas party will include live music from the McLean Avenue Band and special guests and will be hosted by singer/songwriter Mickey Coleman.
On arrival, guests will be greeted with a free gift and a glass of champagne which will be followed by food and by a raffle later in the evening.
