A forgettable weekend for the Kendall saw only one point garnered from the five games played by our teams.

Perhaps the most disappointing result came from the A side on Saturday. There is no shame in going down 3-1 to MPS, but the loss does make it highly unlikely Phil Keane’s charges will be able to retain the BSSL Division 1 title that was won in such impressive fashion last season.

The As fell 2-0 behind to MPS at Danehy Park before the ever-dependable Taylor Gorman pulled one back. That was as good as it got, however, as MPS added another before the final whistle to secure the three points.

The high-flying B side fared little better as they fell 4-1 to Oneida FC. It was only their second defeat of the BSSL Division 2 campaign, but it leaves them playing catch-up on leaders MIT.

The Students’ enjoy a six-point cushion, but Kendall do have the benefit of two games in hand.

It was left to the C side to salvage something from an otherwise depressing Saturday, and Nathan Lee’s men duly obliged by coming away from a long trip to Leominster with a credible 2-2 draw against La Garra Mass FC.

There was also a bitter taste from that result, though, as Kendall would have collected all three points had it not been for a dubious last-minute penalty.

La Garra took the lead before goals from Lawrence Wasajja and Tony Karam Touma put Kendall firmly in the driving seat.

Unfortunately, the referee allowed himself to be swayed by the constant complaining of La Garra, and his poor decision at the death denied Kendall their fifth win of the season.

There was little relief on Sunday morning, with both Over 30 sides registering defeats.

The A side put in a battling performance against Southborough United, but lost out by the odd goal in three in their NEOTHSL clash at Worcester Academy.

The As fell behind to a header early on, but a goal from Ben Sprayregan (after excellent build-up play by Jon Bexiga and Jonah Fontela) made it level pegging soon after half time.

Luck then deserted Aidan Finnan’s charges, as a fortunate ricochet in the area afforded a Southborough attacker to opportunity to flash a tremendous shot to the net.

To add insult to injury, the B side’s unbeaten run in NEOTHSL Division 5S came to an end as they succumbed 4-1 to Club Recordacoes De Portugal in Dedham.
