On Saturday, October 4, The Irish Network New Jersey invites members to celebrate the grand opening of the Kerri Smith Academy of Irish Dance in Jersey City. The event will take place at the new studio, and features demonstration classes, free giveaways and special guests.

Founder and certified Irish Dance instructor Kerri Smith aims to bring both the recreational and competitive sides of Irish dance to Jersey City, a hub of Irish and Irish American culture.

Smith is a championship winning Irish dancer who’s been competing for fourteen years.

“I hope that the school will reflect my own love of this beautiful, cultural art form, and that it will prove to be a continued celebration of our Irish roots both here in Jersey City and in the surrounding communities,” Smith said in a recent press release.

President of the Irish Network USA Steve Lenox said, “For her leadership in the celebration of the arts, for her success as an Irish American entrepreneur, and for her commitment to the wider community, we are so proud to count Kerri among our diverse group of members – not just in New Jersey, but across the USA.”

The Irish Network USA, of which Irish Network New Jersey is a part, is committed to fully engaging the Irish Diaspora to invest in Ireland by supporting business, arts, sports and tourism.

The studio celebration is located at 110 Bright Street in Jersey City, and will kick off at 2pm.
