Fr. Tom Burke's 3-15 Galway 3-19

Galway put themselves into playoff position with a well earned win over Fr. Tom Burke's. Galway finished the game strong. With the game on the line the tribesmen weathered a Tom's comeback and tallied six points on the trot.

Galway took the half time break five points to the good. A three goal salvo put Galway in the drivers seat. At one stage Galway threatened to put the game away. Late in the half the tribesmen led by 10 points and Tom's looked to be completely out of it. John Moylan had put two goals away, and Thomas O'Hanrahan the third as the Galway forward line cut the Tom's defence to pieces. With Rory Hickey's free taking keeping the points column rotating, Galway's lead grew. Tom's did threaten however, and James Skehill was called on to make a fine save from close range. Tom's managed to throw themselves a lifeline with a David O'Mahoney goal late in the half to keep matters in hand. Shane Howley, Zane Keenan, and Niall O'Brien's points had reined the lead to 5 points.

Tom's got the second half off to a flying start with a goal from Mr. X, and a couple of points to one for Galway brought the difference to a single point. As the teams tried to get the advantage each side made a defensive stand. Tom's keeper Alan Keating pulled off a great save and then worked hard to prevent the rebound going in. At the other end Skehill pulled off another top notch save from Keenan. Each side continued to pick off the points, Keenan from the dead ball for Tom's and David O'Mahoney. Galway had a little more firepower in the half forward line. Hickey, Paul Holden, and Moylan all picked off points and edged that difference back up to 7 points with full time approaching. Zane Keenan netted a consolation to improve the look of the scorebard. Galway coming strong with the playoffs approaching.
