Billy’s Coughlin's night will take place at The Beachcomber, Quincy on September 27 to raise money for Local Heroes, Inc.

Now in its eighth year, this half-way to St. Patrick's day fundraiser has become a firm favorite in Quincy's annual event calendar.

The night was organized to honor the memory of young Irish American, Billy Coughlin, a marine veteran, who tragically drowned in 2005.

"There was so much sadness surrounding his death, mountains of it, and everyone agreed that we really wanted to create something joyful to remember Billy," said Jake Doyle, a co-organizer of the event.

"He was proud of his Irish heritage and proud of his service to his country," Jake continued "Our Halfway to St. Patrick's day fundraiser reflects both of these"

All monies raised at this event will go directly to Local Heroes, Inc., a non-profit organization working to support local servicemen and servicewomen and their families.

"Since we started this event, we have raised $10,000 approx. for this charity," Doyle remarked

"It is a small organization but it does a huge a thing and it eliminates the middle man by working directly with the families of the deployed and assisting veterans assimilate on their return to the states."

"We are asking people to just give what they can"

"It really doesn't matter if that is a lot or a little as everything helps" Doyle said

He added "Most of all, come along for a great nights entertainment and help us celebrate the memory of a great guy!"

The 8th Annual Billy's Night will be held at the Beachcomber in Quincy on Saturday, September 27 at 8PM. Live music by Aiden Maher, Ireland (The Band). Door $5. All monies raised from door and raffle will directly benefit Local Heroes, Inc.
