ANITA Mary Sands is the chief operating officer for UBS Financial Services Wealth Management Americas, which provides advice-based solutions through financial advisors who deliver a fully integrated set of products and services specifically designed to address the needs of ultra high net worth, high net worth and core affluent individuals and families.

A native of Drogheda, Co. Louth, Sands earned a first class honors bachelor of science degree in physics and applied math from Queen’s University Belfast, a Ph.D in atomic and molecular physics from Queen’s, and a master’s in public policy and management with highest distinction from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Sands is a former board member of the Ireland Fund of Canada, the Ireland Park Foundation and the Ireland-Canada Chamber of Commerce. She is an advisor to the Irish government trade board Enterprise Ireland. 

Sands originally moved to the U.S. in 2000 for three years. She then relocated to Canada and returned to the U.S. last year.
