Women of Influence

Pacini, Dorothea D.

DOROTHEA D. Pacini is the associate director of finance, entity planning and execution at the CME Group, based in Chicago.

As the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, CME Group is where the world comes to manage risk. CME Group exchanges offer the widest range of global benchmark products across all major asset classes, including futures and options based on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural commodities, metals, weather and real estate.
CME Group brings buyers and sellers together through the CME Globex electronic trading platform and trading facilities in New York and Chicago.

A native of Chicago, Pacini earned a bachelor of science from DePaul University. She is a certified public accountant. Pacini traces her Irish roots through her parents; her paternal grandfather was born in Co. Mayo, and her maternal great great parents hailed from Co. Cavan.
Pacini has traveled to Ireland numerous times, her most recent trip bringing her to Dublin and Belfast in April.

“In my business capacity, I have acted as advisor to Ireland-based companies as they expanded their geographic footprint into the U.S.,” says Pacini.

“Prior to joining the CME Group, I worked for the U.S. subsidiary of a Cork-based company.  I was their financial advisor on the acquisition and through our shared heritage I went to work for them as their financial controller-CFO.

“I will always work to help a fellow Irishman or woman navigate the U.S. wherever I can.  It is what my relatives that emigrated here would expect of me.”

Pacini, who is married, says that her Irish heritage “means everything to me. It is woven into the fabric of my life.  It has created a shared bond with many of Irish ancestry across the world.”
