Maxwell, Ann Marie
ANN MARIE Maxwell is the sectoral manager for the U.S. consumer retail market at Enterprise Ireland, the government organization responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets.
Maxwell is based in the Boston office, and has the responsibility of managing a portfolio of companies focused on building their exports to the U.S. market. In this role, she supports Irish companies with entry and/or expansion in the U.S. consumer retail market.
Engaging with individual client companies, she develops short, medium and long-term strategies, and on a sectoral level she creates and implements multi-client activities to promote the consumer retail client base in the marketplace.
Prior to joining Enterprise Ireland in 2004, Maxwell served for three and a half years with the Consulate General of Ireland in Boston. Previous to her consular work, she resided in Ireland where she began her career in business development with a consumer products/retail firm.
A native of Co. Mayo, Maxwell attended GMIT in Ireland and Quincy College in Massachusetts, earning a degree in business.
Maxwell moved to Boston in November of 2000. Her parents originally met and married in the city and had four children there before returning to Ireland in the late 1970s.
“Having lived in the U.S. for almost 11 years now, my appreciation of my Irish heritage only grows stronger,” says Maxwell.
“Sometimes when I return home to Louisburgh, I notice my surroundings as if it were the first time I have ever seen them -- it’s like I’m a tourist in my hometown.
“When you look out the back door of my family home you can see Croagh Patrick where St. Patrick fasted for 40 days, and the view from the front door is Clare Island, the home of the Pirate Queen Grainne Uaile. Steeped in this rich history and beauty, I could only be proud of where I come from.”
