O'Connell, Maureen
As executive vice president, chief administrative officer and chief financial officer of Scholastic, Inc., Maureen O’Connell directs all administrative functions for the publishing house, famous for bringing the world the “Harry Potter” series.
O’Connell joined the $2.2 billion global children’s publishing, education and media company in 2007.
The former CFO of Barnes & Noble holds a bachelor of science in accounting and economics from New York University. O’Connell is a first generation Irish American, and her ancestry goes back to counties Tyrone and Kerry.
O’Connell is very proud of her Irish heritage and believes that “the Irish are earnest, hard-working, and generous people.”
She is married with three children.
