Kucera-Walsh, Maureen

MAUREEN Kucera-Walsh is a community leader in Minnesota, and a former senior vice president for public affairs and corporate support at Delta Dental Plan of Minnesota /Decare International.
Kucera Walsh worked on national and statewide policy issues with former Attorney General Hubert Humphrey, through public and private partnerships.

Kucera-Walsh oversaw the public affairs/communications department which included all internal and external communications of the various companies nationally, and provided public affairs expertise in Decare's growing business relationships in Ireland and in the U.S. 

From 1985-1998, Kucera-Walsh served Humphrey in various capacities.  She worked directly with several key state and federal public officials during that time, and was a member of a select group invited to participate in Vice President and Mrs. Gore’s annual family reunion forum which focused on policy issues dealing with families and children. She also worked in various political capacities during that period for Humphrey, including campaign manager during his 1986 re-election race.

Kucera-Walsh received a master of arts in public administration with honors from Hamline University, and a bachelor of arts with honors from the College of St. Thomas. Kucera-Walsh and her husband Mike Walsh, a native of Co. Mayo and a former Mayo Gaelic football player, also spend time at their residence in Dalkey, Co. Dublin where they are both involved in the community and both have family throughout the country.  Her mother was a Kirwan, and great grandmother was a Kerrigan.
She was named distinguished Irish woman in St. Paul by the St. Patrick’s Association of St. Paul this year. 

Kucera-Walsh is supportive of the Marie Keating Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation in Ireland, and formed a St. Paul/Minneapolis Friend of the Keating Foundation relationship.
Kucera-Walsh hosts a student from Belfast through the Culturelink Friendship Family at the University of St. Thomas.
