Women of Influence

Hughes, Geraldine

Actor, writer and producer Geraldine Hughes is thrilled to be an Irish-born American citizen. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, Hughes is proud of her roots.

“Born into a working class home during the Troubles in West Belfast, I am proud of where I am from. America was always a dream, from when I was very young, and at the age of 18 I got a private scholarship to attend UCLA. No matter where I go, I can hold my head up high and be profoundly proud of being Irish,” says Hughes.

Hughes starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 2006 film “Rocky Balboa.” She wrote and starred in the acclaimed New York show “Belfast Blues,” and has had parts on “ER” and “Profiler” on TV.
