Corcoran O'Donell, Therese

THERESE Corcoran O’Donnell is the vice president of ad sales marketing for HGTV and DIY Network, part of Scripps Networks Interactive.

“By interpreting advertisers’ objectives through the HGTV and DIY Network brand lens, I am able to work on exciting projects that provide both powerful marketing opportunities for our advertisers, and unique content and creative assets for our networks.  It is rewarding to see a client realize success from a project or promotion,” says Corcoran O’Donnell.

Prior to joining Scripps Networks in 2004, Corcoran O’Donnell was the vice president of ad sales and alliance marketing at the Hallmark Channel.  Prior to that she worked in ad sales and affiliate marketing at AMC. She began her career in television marketing at Spelling Entertainment’s Worldvision Enterprises Inc., where she worked with station partners to create promotions for programs such as Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown.

A native of New Jersey, Corcoran O’Donnell earned a BS in marketing with a minor in communication arts from Fairfield University. She traces her Irish ancestry back three generations. “My mom, aunt and uncle have just completed an extensive Corcoran family history by exploring church records and other documents both in the U.S. and in Ireland; the stories we heard and the information we found is extraordinary, especially given how many documents were lost over the years,” she says.
Corcoran O’Donnell’s husband John O’Donnell has family in Donegal, and they look forward to traveling to Ireland in the future.

“I am very proud of my Irish heritage.  To me, it is a symbol of perseverance, connection to family and a celebration of life,” she says. “My father instilled in me a love of Irish music, dance and literature, and pride in the accomplishments of fellow Irishmen.

“I think my family is a great example of how hard-working Irish immigrants overcame obstacles to succeed over the years, without losing a sense of their identity and heritage along the way.”
