Connor, Kathleen
KATHLEEN Connor’s dedication to gender equality, repairing childhood deformities, and helping those that have been devastated by disasters is just a small portion of what she does. A firm supporter of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Connor lends her time and talents to help the sisters with the care and support of the retired and the elderly sisters.
A long time supporter and volunteer for Operation Smile, Connor has worked to help make a difference in the lives of children that have been riddled with childhood deformities. Since the passing of her husband John in January 1992, she spends her time traveling the world presenting the Operation Smile John Connor Humanitarian Award.
As a board member of UNIFEM – Metro Chapter, Kathleen works to foster and enhance the rights of women, gender equality, and to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS of women and girls throughout the world.
A member of the American Red Cross Disaster Unit, Connor participates in helping those who have been affected by hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes and fires. It is her compassion that drives her to help, and the hope that one person can make a difference in other’s lives. Connor, a native New Yorker, traces her roots to counties Leitrim and Mayo. A member of the Ireland-U.S. Council, she often finds herself back in Ireland.
The combined passion to give back to community was something that Connor and her husband shared and instilled in their three children. Today, she volunteers with the organizations dearest to her heart, in addition to traveling and keeping up with family and friends. Her children and son-in-law, John, Maureen and Kilian Brandon, and Michael, are the center of her world.
