Born and raised in Tuam, County Galway, Agnes Delaney came to New York as a young nanny in 1964. She then worked for Western Union for five years.
After raising her three children, J.P., Ann Marie and Dermot, Delaney went back to school, earning herself a bachelor’s in psychology, and a master’s in social work and health care administration at Columbia University.
After a successful 20-year career in the field of healthcare, Delaney is the board chair for the past five years at the Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers.
“I volunteer to give back to the Irish community, but in return I receive much more,” she says.
