Eamonn M.M Quigley is Professor of Medicine and Human Physiology at University College Cork , and a Principal Investor at the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, UCC. University College Cork provides for over 17000 students across the full range of faculties. The Medical School, of which Quigley served as Dean for seven years, offers direct entry programmes in medicine, as well as a variety of research opportunities. He is a Past President of The American College of Gastroenterology, and The World Gastroenterology Organisation. He is a non-Executive Director od Alimentary Health Ltd., Cork, a research-focused, campus company which mines the human and animal microbiomes for biologically active and therapeutically important compounds and has already developed products for human and animal health based on this work. His plan for the future includes further development of clinical research in Cork, leading to the production of therapeutics and diagnostics in the area of digestive diseases, as well as a continued focus on the promotion of standards in education and training in gastroenterology throughout the world, particularly through co-operation between the American College of Gastroenterology and The World Gastroenterology Organization. Quigley is married with four children, and lives in County Cork.
