Carl (Carlos) O’Connell is President and CEO of MedSurg Specialty Devices Inc, a Division of  ITOCHU International Inc. ITOCHU International Inc  is part of a $110 billion conglomerate based in Tokyo, Japan, looking to expand its interests, partnership, acquisitions  in the US Healthcare Industry and  specifically in Medical Devices under the platform of MedSurg. The company is based in New York City, with MedSurg operational businesses in Chicago, Dallas and New Orleans. Dublin – born O’Connell was formerly the Global VP, Stryker-Medical solutions for the Spine Industry. O’Connell holds a B.Sc and MBA from Mount St. Mary’s College, Maryland. O’Connell is a former Irish Olympian, and represented Ireland in the 1988 Olympics in Korea in Decathlon. O’Connell’s goal is to Build a Preeminent Medical Device and HealthCare Solutions Company. O’Connell and his wife Jennifer have two daughters. They reside in Irvington, New York.
