Joseph T Kennedy is Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Transcept Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a NASDAQ listed specialty pharmaceutical company located in Point Richmond, California. Transcept is focused on the development and commercialization of proprietary products that address important therapeutic needs in the field of neuroscience.  Kennedy is also a Business Advisory Board member of Fountain Healthcare Partners, the largest dedicated life science venture capital firm based in Ireland with offices in Dublin and New York. Kennedy is a third generation Irish American, with roots in County Cork. Kennedy has represented large multi-national and developing life science companies, and the investment banks and venture capital firms that service the industry. Kennedy acted as Chief Legal Officer of Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Kennedy also served as Vice President & US Counsel, Corporate Business Development, with Élan Corporation plc, a NYSE listed pharmaceutical company based in Dublin. Kennedy earned his JD at New York Law School and his BS in Economics from Fairfield University. He looks forward to a career of helping developing life science companies achieve success at critical stages to facilitate the development and commercialization of important new therapeutics that improve the lives of patients worldwide. Kennedy resides in Mill Valley, California, with his wife and four children.
