Sheehan, Robert C.

ROBERT C. Sheehan is the pro bono partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates in New York. 
Sheehan was executive partner of the firm from April 1994 to April 2009. He began his career with Skadden in 1969 and became a partner in 1978.
Prior to his tenure as executive partner, Sheehan headed the Financial Institutions Merger & Acquisition Group, which he had founded. 
Sheehan, who has been cited by publications as one of the world’s leading banking lawyers, has represented numerous bank and thrift holding companies, both as acquirors and as targets, in negotiated and unsolicited acquisition transactions.
Sheehan also has served as counsel for financial institutions in connection with their relations with various state and federal banking regulatory authorities.
Sheehan received a BA from Boston College, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. 
His paternal grandmother Mary Devlin was a native of Co. Westmeath. He also has roots in Belfast.
Sheehan is married with three children.
