Ellen Keane Rutt serves as the associate dean for admissions, student finance and career planning at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she received a JD with honors.
She also teaches first year law students in addition to her work as dean. Prior to attending the UCONN School of Law, she received a BA from Notre Dame.
After graduating from law school, Keane Rutt worked for a time as a litigator before pursuing a career in law education. She is admitted to practice in the state courts of Connecticut, the Federal District Court of Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Keane Rutt began working for UCONN as a lawyering process and moot court instructor, and later became assistant dean for admissions s affairs.
Keane Rutt’s paternal grandparents are both from Co. Kerry, and her maternal great-grandparents hailed from counties Mayo and Clare. She is active in several charitable organizations and was named Irish Person of the Year by the Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee in 2004.
