SAMANTHA Power - PULITZER Prize winner Samantha Power is the senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, appointed by President Barack Obama, and a professor at Harvard.
Power was the founding executive director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
Straight out of college, Power spent three years covering the war in Bosnia as a reporter and has written extensively for publications such as The New Yorker, Time and U.S. News and World Report.
Power won the Pulitzer in 2003 for general nonfiction for her book A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide. From 2005-2006 she worked in the office of Senator Obama and was a top advisor to his presidential campaign until her resignation in early 2008 over remarks she made about Senator Hillary Clinton.
Power is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School.  She was born in Dublin and moved to the U.S. when she was nine.
She married Cass Sunstein in 2008. They have one son, Declan Power-Sunstein.
