O'Neill, John

JOHN O'Neill - with experience representing clients before agencies such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy and various state regulatory bodies, John H. O’Neill, Jr. is an expert on energy, environmental and public utility law.
O’Neill’s vast knowledge of this concentration makes him the leader of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP’s Energy Section and Regulatory Department in Washington, D.C.  O’Neill has worked extensively in domestic and international transactions involving acquisition and sale of power plants, and nuclear fuel and services.
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, O’Neill completed graduate work in nuclear engineering and was an officer in the U.S. Navy on nuclear submarines during the Cold War before practicing law.
O’Neill received a JD from Yale Law School and is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia as well as the state of Maryland.  He is the father of four sons, all of whom have served their country.
O’Neill traces his Irish roots to Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.
