O'Malley, John
JOHN J. O’Malley is a shareholder and chair of the trademark/copyright practice group at the intellectual property (IP) law firm of Volpe and Koenig P.C. in Philadelphia.
O’Malley specializes in advising clients on strategies for building brands and developing and protecting U.S. and international trademark portfolios. He also counsels clients on a wide range of IP matters, including IP due diligence for banks, IP investment companies, venture capital and private equity investors, negotiating intellectual property agreements, and counseling start-up and emerging companies in cost effective strategies to protect key IP assets.
O’Malley graduated cum laude with a BA in political science from George Washington University, and received a law degree from the Villanova University School of Law.
He is first generation Irish American whose mother’s family, the Friels, hails from Termon, Co. Donegal. His father’s family comes from Louisburgh, Co Mayo.
O’Malley serves as the president of the Brehon Law Society in Philadelphia. He is also a board member of the Irish American Business Chamber and Network, the Irish Immigration and Pastoral Center and is a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
O’Malley lives in suburbs of Philadelphia with his wife, Andrea, and their sons, Daniel and Brian.
