SEAN Patrick Murphy is senior vice president, corporate general counsel and assistant secretary to Solaris Health System, a multi-hospital integrated delivery system located in Edison, New Jersey. Solaris, with 5,000-plus employees, is New Jersey’s first integrated multi-hospital healthcare system with nationally recognized programs including the Center for Head Injuries and the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute.
Murphy’s professional background is combination of health care administration and law. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was a hospital administrator, including having served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps, where he obtained the rank of captain.
He also has held various academic appointments, including professorial lecturer at the George Washington University graduate program in health services administration. He has authored numerous articles in a variety of publications, including The Health Lawyer, New Jersey Medicine and the New Jersey Lawyer and the Health Law Handbook.
Murphy received an AB with distinction from Rutgers College, a master’s in health services administration from George Washington University and a JD from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark.
Murphy and his wife Mary Kathleen have three children.
