McAndrews, George P.

George P. McAndrews is chairman of the board and a founder of the Chicago law firm McAndrews Held & Malloy, Ltd.  His practice focus is on counseling clients regarding all phases of patent, trademark, antitrust, fiduciary duty, unfair competition, warranty and other intellectual property law, and in litigating such cases.

McAndrews received a BS in mechanical engineering with honors from the University of Notre Dame, where he was elected Engineer of the Year. †He also received a JD from Notre Dame, ranking second in his class.

McAndrews served as law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and currently serves on the Advisory Council of the College of Law at the University of Notre Dame.

McAndrews lectures widely before business and academic groups on intellectual property law and on trial techniques before juries and judges, and has addressed circuit conferences of U.S. judges on various aspects of trial practice.

McAndrews was named a Top 10 Litigator in 2001 by National Law Journal, the only patent trial lawyer selected that year. He has been trial counsel for numerous Fortune 100 companies, and was lead trial counsel for the American Chiropractic Association for its celebrated 14-year antitrust case against the American Medical Association.

McAndrews' paternal grandmother, Margaret Davin, came to America from Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo in 1880.

McAndrews and his wife Kathy have five children.
