Mahon, Malachy
Malachy Mahon is the founding dean and Siggi B. Wilzig professor of banking and law at the Hofstra University School of Law on Long Island.
Mahon teaches anti-trust, banking, commercial law, contracts and remedies.
Mahon received a BA from Manhattan College, and a JD from Fordham. At age 34, Mahon became the youngest law school dean in the country when Hofstra’s School of Law opened in 1970.
Mahon, a former law clerk to Justice Tom C. Clark of the U.S. Supreme Court, began recruiting students and faculty for a new law school at Hofstra in 1968.
“We were shooting for a gem of a law school,” says Mahon. “Now it’s quite a bit larger operation.”
