Brian F. Havel is a professor and associate dean at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.
Havel has received many awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award from DePaul, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law, and the Lawrence A. Wien Fellow in Corporate Law from Columbia University.
Havel holds master’s degrees in law from University College Dublin and Columbia University Law School, as well as a master’s degree in languages and linguistics from Trinity College Dublin and a doctoral degree in international and comparative law from Columbia. He also is a visiting scholar at University College Dublin.
Havel’s Irish roots lie in Waterford City, Co. Waterford. His biography of his father, Miroslav Havel, late chief designer of Waterford Crystal, was published in Europe in 2006.
